Helena & Matt’s Engagement Session
White Cliffs of Conoy, Bainbridge, PA
THE ENGAGEMENT SESSION!
I had such an amazing time at this Engagement Session with Helena & Matt!! They are absolutely perfect for each other! We went to White Cliffs of Conoy in Bainbridge, PA. It’s about a 3-mile hike down to the Cliffs, but it’s totally worth it!
A little bit of history about this area….sitting nearly 30 feet above the riverbank, the cliffs offer grand views of the Susquehanna River. They are not a natural occurrence, but are actually composed of the byproduct from a limestone and dolomite quarry that opened in the mid-1800s. Across from the cliffs, on the other side of the train tracks, are the ruins of the limestone factory as that was once used in conjunction with the quarry. There are several other buildings as well that are the remnants of the Billmyer ghost town. Nature has now taken back what was once a thriving company town.
The quarry operation closed up in the 1950s. The quarry, which is currently owned by the Bainbridge Sportsman Club, filled up with water and is used for scuba diving practice. The cliffs were privately owned until 2014, but are now under control of Conoy Township.
At the moment, Helena & Matt moved to Germany to pursue Helena’s career! What an AMAZING opportunity! Shay Scala Photography wishes them the best of luck in their new endeavors and can’t wait to shoot their wedding in the near future.
Here is their love story told in their own words:
HOW YOU MET?
A mutual friend posted a Snapchat story of her and I celebrating my birthday. Her caption was “Out with this German Beauty celebrating her birthday”. It didn’t take long until a friend of hers, Matt, responded “I would like to meet this German girlfriend of yours”. My friend asked me if I wanted to meet him and after checking him out on Facebook to make sure he was cute 😎, I told her he could hang out with us. I really didn’t think any of it and didn’t think they were actually going to show. But the next thing I knew, Matt and his buddy showed up to Duke’s where we were having some drinks. After that, he asked me out on another few dates and the rest is history 😍
HOW YOU FELL IN LOVE?
We are like the same person. We have really similar goals and opinions and are just overall super compatible. The mutual attraction definitely helps too 😉
HOW DID YOU PROPOSE?
Matt proposed in Harrisburg where we met. He took me out for a coffee and my favourite lunch spot on a Saturday morning in October last year. After we grabbed a coffee to go, he had us walk past the fountain by the capital. He stopped by the fountain, went down on his knee and proposed to me in German. Beforehand, he had arranged for his mom to be there to take pictures and a video of him proposing. Everyone loves the video she took and a picture of him proposing is already hanging on the wall.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT WITH PLANNING YOUR WEDDING?
I’m most excited about saying “I do” and being with him for the rest of our lives. I can’t wait to experience many more memorable moments and grow old with him.
YOUR LOVE STORY IS MADE INTO A MOVIE – WHAT WOULD YOU TITLE IT?
SnapLove
DESCRIBE YOUR RELATIONSHIP IN 5 WORDS.
Strong. Loving. Loyal. Fun. Exciting
SOMETHING THAT MEANS THE MOST TO YOU.
I just feel so grateful because I know I can trust Matt and rely on him 100%. He’s always there for me, takes really good and sweet care of me when I’m sick, always finds a way to prove me wrong when I’m doubting myself and defends me and my actions even if I don’t believe in them. He is just awesome and I’m lucky that he’s officially off the market here soon 😉
